I Matter Curriculum
The I Matter curriculum is for all preschool though kindergarten children because life challenges all of us, but it was especially developed for children who have experienced early trauma.
The I Matter curriculum is literature-based. This means that each unit uses a children’s book as the center-piece for all executive function content.
The I Matter curriculum is for all preschool though kindergarten children because life challenges all of us, but it was especially developed for children who have experienced early trauma. It is meant to fit snuggly and complement standard academic curriculum. It is structured around Brain, Heart and Courage because when children develop these, they are more successful.
The I Matter curriculum is literature-based. This means that a children’s book will be used as the center-piece for all executive function content. The curriculum is set up as hour sessions consisting of 20 minute pre-session snack and exercise/movement, 20 minute learning-time, and 20 reward time. The 20 minute play-study/learning time includes one I Matter concept and practice, pre-post sight words, math, journal and art, and writing/penmanship. The rewards are activities selected by the student.
